I asked this question in the SAM forum and was directed here by alterego as you guru's may be able to point me in the right direction.

We would like to automate the application of templates and components to nodes.

We have hundreds of linux servers which have a different set of filesystems, some are common and some are server specific.   What I would like to do is apply the "Linux Disk Monitoring Perl (LDMP)" template to a node and have a process/script look at the filesystems discovered by NPM for a particular linux server and have the SAM LDMP template applied with the components "added/customized" to the instance with the filesystems discovered by NPM.

Since some LDMP component perl scripts are hard coded to only monitor root filesystem "/" they would be changed to accept a "filesystem" parameter.

The basis of what we are trying to do is reduce the amount of administration and potential mistakes using Solarwinds. We have some large unix database servers with over 150 filesystems and to manually change the components with in the "Linux Disk Monitoring Perl" template is not acceptable.

Any help would be helpful and very much appreciated.

Here is any example of what I am taking about.

Server 1

filesystems

/opt

/var

/usr

/application1

Server 2

/var

/usr

/application2
